Although she only recently released her self-titled full-length album, Mary Stewart refuses to rest. With a new EP set to be released before her Eastern and Central Canadian tour in Dec, Mary has also assigned herself the task of posting a new song everyday on her blog. In an attempt to give her audience an insight into the songwriting process, and to also sharpen her songwriting skills, Mary credits both her cat, Bumbalina, and a love for coffee as the source for her energy.

On May 1, 2009 Mary released her debut self titled CD at The Company House. This show was followed-up with CD releases at Just Us Café, Fibbers in New Glasgow, and the Trenton Youth Centre. Since the release, Mary has performed a number of shows and at a variety of venues in Halifax including The Concert On the Other Side of the Hill, Amnesty Canada’s National Conference, the Tall Ships Festival, The Wooden Monkey, Minstrel’s, The Carleton’s “Sing for Your Supper” and the city of Halifax’s “Tunes at Noon”. Outside of metro she has been a featured performer at New Glasgow Canada Day Celebrations, “Race on the River” the Pictou County Dragon Boat Festival, Northumberland Ferries – Music on Deck Program, as well as performances at the New Glasgow Library and Glasgow Square Theatre.

Music has played a significant role in Mary’s life since an early age. Born into a musical family, she grew up in New Glasgow around an extensive record collection, which led to an appreciation of music from all genres and generations. She has shared the stage with such performers as Cindy Church, Rose Cousins, Jenn Grant, Coco Love Alcorn, Jill Barber, Wintersleep, In-Flight Saftey, Martyn Joseph and JUNO Award Winners Murray McLaughlan, Stephen Fearing and Old Man Luedecke, Maple Blues Award winner Suzie Vinnick and two-time John Lennon Song Contest Winner – Arthur Godfrey.Mary has been a featured artist on ECFM’s “East Coast Road Trip” and is receiving airplay regionally on CBC, CKDU, Q104 and ECFM (CKEC New Glasgow).
